Self-Enlightenment is a journey that begins with the first step. The journey should be taken by one who knows the concept, goals and benefits to his/her life and Being. The first step is a step of commitment to your goal. From that point, everything that is seen, heard or sensed as one ascends the path is viewed as lessons, a spiritual test & challenge, guidance or spiritual confirmation of your self-mastery. The path becomes continually clearer and and more defined as you journey and is continually lit through your daily spiritual practice and meditations that bring about inner illumination. Purification of your old negative and limited allows you to soar to greater heights of illumined mind. Self-Enlightenment is a journey that involves continuous movement. Mental and spiritual discipline accelerates the movement. The spiritual aspirant gives up nothing to gain everything. Self-worth, confidence, energy and creative inspiration steadily increase. One should not embark is a journey if it is only a whim, novelty or something else to do. Self-Enlightenment is a journey of the heart and soul. We all need greater inspiration and joy in our lives not another duty. The pursuit of Self-Enlightenment is the greatest service one can do for mankind. The reasons are many and are revealed as the process unfolds. Self-Enlightenment is a purposeful inner journey by a spiritual aspirant to ascend to the highest dimensions of mind and beyond in search of enlightenment and direct experience with God. This is accomplished through spiritual knowledge, self-knowledge, study and specific meditative practices. Meditation means to look deeply at things, to touch things deeply. Krishnamurti, one of the great spiritual teachers of the twentieth century describes meditation as a most extraordinary thing, and says that if you don’t know what it is, you are like a blind man in a world of bright color, shadows and moving light. He describes meditation as a movement of love not an intellectual affair and when the heart enters into the mind, the mind takes on a different quality; it is really, then, limitless, not only in its capacity to think, to act efficiently, but also in its sense of living in a vast space where you are part of everything. It is in this vast space, the spiritual aspirant seeks to experience Self as an indivisible whole. This mystical experience is always accompanied with Ananda: ecstatic joy and Divine bliss generally referred to as Nirvana. Self-Enlightenment is the practice of taking your wandering, unfocused and unwieldy mind and training it in focus and attention to transcend self-centeredness. It is purging oneself of negative attachments and purifying the divisive forces within one’s consciousness that perpetuate suffering. This is accomplished through self-insight and spiritual understanding that results from your meditative practice. As one progresses, one truly knows first hand that he/she is inseparable from the whole of creation, and is thereby positively transformed by the power of spiritual experiences. The Buddha tell us in The Dhammapada that the goal is to reach such a depth that even in dreams the awareness of unity remains unbroken. The partitions fall; consciousness is unified from surface to its deepest interior. One is awake on the very floor of the unconscious, and life is a seamless whole. Self in the lotus of the heart is realized and both the physical and spiritual world is seen through The Divine Eye; the single eye of Oneness in the sky of the heart. When you return from a state of meditation to the surface of consciousness, you slip on your sense of individuality again. But it is the personality of a new man, a new woman, purified of separateness and reborn in the love of all life. Self-Enlightenment is the supreme goal and is the very core of the meaning of human existence; the purpose of every individual soul. |
